Balsam Green is a boutique investment firm focused on the acquisition of low-income tax credit housing, naturally occurring affordable housing, and distressed multi-family housing across the country. The firm also partners with local developers to create new low-income housing opportunities in areas with favorable political and tax environments. Balsam Green was founded to help solve problems for existing owners, investors, lenders, and developers, allowing each party to focus on their highest-value opportunities. The firm has preferred construction, rehabilitation, property management, and compliance partners to ensure that each challenge has a viable path to success.
Chris is a Founding Principal of Balsam Green, where he focuses on the overall vision and manages key relationships for the firm. Prior to founding Balsam Green, Chris was a partner at one of the nation’s largest developers and owners of affordable housing. His portfolio spans the country and includes a variety of complex financial strategies to turn around challenged properties. Chris divides his time between Arizona and Wisconsin, where he lives with his wife and son. Both he and his wife are heavily involved in Down syndrome advocacy, as well as supporting services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Mark is a Co-Founder of Balsam Green, where he focuses on the overall investment strategy and operations of the firm. His career in real estate spans market-rate, affordable, historic preservation, retail, and public/private partnerships. He was most recently a partner at a boutique development and property management group. His emphasis on assembling the right team to execute complex transactions ensures projects close successfully and achieve their expected returns. Mark is based in Minnesota, where he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and kids, attending live music events, visiting local parks, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.
